DESIGNED FOR THE STAGE
The wardrobe for Joya Marleen's Falling in Love Tour was developed around a magical and romantic visual world.
Together, we explored lace, corsetry, florals, volume, ruffles and light, while considering how every piece would interact with the stage and her performance.
The wardrobe needed to create a strong entrance while allowing an outfit change in under one minute.

BUILT TO PERFORM
Every design had to balance visual impact with movement and comfort.
Lightweight lace, chiffon and structured materials were selected to create volume without restricting Joya on stage.
Existing and available materials were prioritised instead of producing new fabrics, combining performance requirements with a more conscious approach to sourcing.

BEYOND THE STAGE
The visual world continued beyond the concerts.
For Joya's press appearances, existing pieces from her wardrobe were reworked, customised and combined with new elements to reflect the same romantic atmosphere.
The looks were created for television, radio and social media appearances leading into the tour.

LIGHTS ON
When the look becomes part of the performance.
For “Lights On”, Joya wanted a look that could literally illuminate the stage.
Because she performs the song at the piano, lights hidden inside a traditional skirt would barely be visible.
The solution was an adjustable illuminated train.
Created from translucent organza, the train gives the lights space to shine while creating movement and volume behind the piano.
A panelled faux-leather skirt conceals the technical components, while the detachable construction allows Joya to remove the train after the performance and continue wearing the complete look.
